Augmented reality applications for industry – XR technology

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about different mixed reality technologies (augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality).

They will be able to try out different applications and learn about the differences between the different technologies (Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, Hololens, etc.).

The basics of VR app development with Unity:

  • Creating new objects, materials, adding gravity etc., basic components for VR
  • The basics of moving and turning in VR space (locomotion and teleportation), how to grip objects
  • Sockets through which objects are hung one on top of the other (e.g. a picture on the wall).

More advanced use of VR in Unity:

  • Interactions
  • Scripts
  • User interface

Practical task 1: create a room filled with objects to be moved around, moved and hung

Practical task 2: add events (e.g. lights on) in the room created in practical task 1, create a script to move or rotate objects, add a user interface with information / instructions.

About the speaker:

Lecturer Tomaž Jakša has experience in XR application development. He is a member of the Augmented Reality Lab (LABX) team, which won the GZDBK Gold Award for the innovative VR isolator application.

The service is/will be implemented in the framework of the SRC-EDIH project, co-funded by the European Union (contract no. 101083351) and the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
