Knowledge and technology transfer

Description of the training:

Participants will initially learn about the principles and practices of multi-directional knowledge and technology transfer. Knowledge and technology transfer is usually discussed when it goes from education and research organisations to the economy, but it often also takes place between all other actors in society. Through two case studies, they will learn about the process of transfer of an invention from a research organisation to a company and the transfer of an invention from an independent inventor to a company. We will also learn about successful Slovenian examples of spin-offs and start-ups.

Competences acquired:

  • understanding the principles and practices of knowledge and technology transfer
  • Understanding the different directions of knowledge and technology transfer
  • applicable principles of knowledge and technology transfer in real-life scenarios, such as what royalty to propose for your invention or computer program
  • insights into when it makes more sense to transfer knowledge and technology and when to set up your own business
  • the basics of intellectual property protection

Lecturer: dr. Ana Hafner

Dr. Ana Hafner is a researcher at the Rudolf – Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto, where she is also the Head of the Technology Transfer Office. She is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Information Studies, the Faculty of Applied Social Studies and the DOBA Faculty. She is also a lecturer and lecturer in Intellectual Property. She has completed a number of training courses at the World Intellectual Property Organisation and is a trade mark and design agent at the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Slovenia.

The training will take place on 31 May 2024 and will last 4 school hours (9:30 – 13:30).

It will take place in a hybrid format via Zoom and in a lecture room at the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto, Ljubljanska cesta 31a, 8000 Novo mesto.

The price is valid for one participant per organisation.
