Developing a virtual (digital) prototype (CFD simulation)

(Faculty of Industrial Engineering)

Virtual engineering is one of the integral parts of the European digital market, the development of which is one of the most important priorities of the European Commission. The Faculty of Industrial Engineering Novo mesto places special emphasis on the acquisition of these skills and is thus one of the pillars of knowledge in the field of the use of engineering simulations and the use of high-performance computing in the field of engineering in Slovenia. Computer simulations are gaining ground with increasing computing power. Continuous improvements in algorithms and the ongoing development of powerful commercial packages are enabling the penetration of advanced computer simulations into all branches of industry. Over the last decade, numerical simulations have become a tool used by a very wide range of industries. In fact, engineering simulations enable the development of value-added products and are becoming an indispensable part of product development.

The faculty will enable two companies to build one virtual (digital) prototype for CFD simulation and solve one case on a mini HPC computer.

The service is/will be implemented in the framework of the SRC-EDIH project, co-funded by the European Union (contract no. 101083351) and the Ministry of Digital Transformation. The service received is co-financed at 25% of the full price as State aid in accordance with Article 25 of Commission Regulation (EU) No 651/2014 of 17 June 2014 declaring certain categories of aid compatible with the internal market in application of Articles 107 and 108 and in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) No 2023/1315 of 23 June 2023. The aid is granted on the basis of the MDP Programme of Measures for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship in the period 2022-2030.
