A press conference was held at the UrbaNMakerspace in Novo mesto’s Novo trg Square, where speakers presented the services offered by the European Digital Innovation Hub SRC-EDIH, coordinated by the Novo mesto Development Centre, to small and medium-sized enterprises and public organisations in the process of digital transformation.
After the opening address by Ms Jerneja Jug Jerša, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Slovenia, Mr Franci Bratkovič, Director of the Novo mesto Development Centre, presented the opportunities of the Hub and stressed its importance for the region.
Next, Gregor Macedoni, Mayor of Novo mesto, spoke about the importance of the Hub for the exchange of best practices in digital transformation and smart cities at the municipal level, and Tomaž Kordiš, Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina, spoke about its importance for the economy.
Matej Makarovič, Dean of the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto, stressed the importance of linking scientific research and educational work by building broader partnerships in the local and international environment, which the Hub provides.
With SRC-EDIH support, companies and public organisations can use digital technologies to improve their business and production processes, products or services. All organisations in the SRC-EDIH ecosystem have access to technical expertise covered by 100 different training courses and access to 11 test environments to test advanced digital technologies before investing in them. Funding advice services and access to the innovation ecosystem are also available. Services are 80-100% subsidised.
Over the next two years, the Hub will support over 100 organisations and more than 1 000 employees to acquire digital skills and competences.
